Getting to Know God
The Bible says everyone has sinned and fallen short of God's Glory. So sin is falling
short of what we were designed to be. To start to reach our potential there needs to be a
change
If we always do what we've always done we will always get what we've
always got.
The first step is to realise that you fall short, of your true potential in God.
Rom 3:23 says "for all have sinned and
fall short of the glory of God". 1 John 1:8 says "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth
is not in us."
It's sin that has made us this way! Isaiah 59:2 - "But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins
have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear." Rom 6:23 -
"For the wages of sin
is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
The next step is to realise that God has an answer for the problem of sin. Heb 9:22 -
"And according to the
law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no
remission."
Sin is purged with the shedding of blood. Jesus paid the price for
your sins by his sacrifice on the Cross.
Let's look at John 3:16 - 17 - "For
God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him
should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not
send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be
saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned
already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."
The whole reason Jesus came to the earth was to pay the price of our
sin.
Life begins when we come to the cross and exchange our decaying
existence, for Jesus' eternal life. Then in our new covenant with God, every promise in
the Bible becomes ours.
Right now Jesus is standing before you waiting for you to ask him in. Rev 3:20 -
"Behold, I stand at the door
and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine
with him, and he with Me."
The way to ask Him in is simple. Romans 10:9 & 10 - "that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in
your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart
one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto
salvation." Romans 10:13 says "whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved."
So if you confess Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised
Him from the dead, you will be saved. So the start of this life is asking Jesus to be Lord
of your life.
Pray this prayer with me now out loud (confess with your mouth)...
Dear Jesus, I
know in my heart that this is truth. I believe that you are knocking on the door of my
heart. I know that I am a sinner. Please forgive me Lord of all my sin and cleanse me.
I believe that you died and rose again for me. I choose to make you Lord of my life now.
I receive you as my King. I tell you
today Lord Jesus to have your way in my life and make me only what you want me to be. Holy
Spirit I give you free access to my life and Father I pray your perfect will be done in my
life from this day forward. Change me and make me what
you want me to be. In Jesus' name. Amen
